Abstract
Deranged Grimoire • The Genius
Root Effect • Action • Roleplay
I’ve heard many say writing a genius is impossible for someone who isn’t a genius. That’s just not true. A genius just figures out the solution to the problem, or a solution to the problem. It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. The Abstract Effect Tree gives us a clue when there isn’t one otherwise. A character with Abstract may see information other characters don’t see. Putting two and two together and coming out with seven, because abstraction may be an irrational connection which works.
Activation
Celerity: 1 Action Slot
Trigger: Abstract may be activated during Active Phase to glean information or as a Trigger to understand what Action one other character or unit of any kind is Activating.
Effect: Determine a value of an item in assessment and how it may relate to another item. This may be figuring out how much Vitality an adversary has, or determining a weakness. Activating Abstract may also reveal how an item works or what an item is used for.
Meta Knowledge
Gleaning abstract data from the same pool of information may allow for a character to receive the benefits of other player’s suggestions of function. If the player asks for analysis from other players at the table as part of this Effect, the additional perspectives should be allowed to be a part of the character’s abstract genius.
Final Note: Abstraction is figuring things out from a few clues. A character may glean meta knowledge as a Eureka. Abstraction is not the same as knowing.
