Root Effect • Passive • Supporting Character Companion

Most of us have the voice in our head. Our internal monologue. For some reason you’ve fully created this voice as an imaginary friend. Or maybe you’re just haunted.

Spirit Bound Companion

This companion is intangible and is incapable of performing actions unless granted by the Spirit Bound Branch, Stem, and Crown Effects. (wip)

Spirit Bound Companions do not have attributes, as they are treated as imaginary creatures. They have infinite Speed, but cannot interact with anyone or anything other than you, supposedly. They can not report information which is not already within your sensory range, most of the time.

Your Spirit Bound Companion is a Supporting Character you design. They may offer insights, quests, or other information including Meta Data transfers. All at the Story Guide’s discretion. You, another player, or the Story Guide may be the actor for this character. All of the above even, as there are no particular limits to the number of Spirit Bound Companions you may have.

Caveat: Only 1 Spirit Bound Companion may be present at a time per character for mechanical reasons. For roleplay it is up to you and your table.

Meta Data Transfers

Your Spirit Bound Companion may, at the discretion of the Story Guide, notice things you do not notice and know things you do not. This is especially true if multiple player’s characters have Spirit Bound Companion unlocked, as the companions somehow magically may communicate with each other in spite of this effect suggesting they’re not real.

The monks of Ralipal eat the simplest diet, all grown on the rooftops above their monastery. Their entire system is designed to persist indefinitely without import.

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
