The earliest forms of robotics were the industrial processing machines. Large operation automations where each step of a larger process was handled in sequence by specialized machinery. Later, as the technology grew, machinery became less specialized and far more complex. Here you may find some of these complexities.
Forewarning
A soldier who will perform his duty with no empathy is little more than a machine. Yet, machines are becoming more capable of discerning the morality of their own actions.
