An Assassin

Deranged GrimoireThe Serial

Root Effect • Social • Supporting Character Development

Being a killer comes in style. This effect tree doesn’t offer anything special to the Character, though the branch effects may make things interesting later. When you get this effect, you know they’re on your tail, maybe you saw your crimes in the news. The bounty hunters, detectives, the city guard. Somebody is looking for you. Maybe you’ll straighten up, but every time you kill they’ll get one step closer.

Passive Effect

Killing seems to be your medium. Each kill has a particular style. Anyone who has seen your work before recognizes your Calling Card.

Calling Card

You do not get to pick your Calling Card. It will be determined by your Modus Operandi. Often based on your weapon of choice or how you leave crime scenes.

When you kill, you may orchestrate your calling card at the location to gain some control over what they call you. Anyone investigating the crime will know it was your Calling Card, even if you descriptively change it. The Calling Card does not reveal who you are directly, but it does link together your past crimes.

Note: This Effect Tree is awarded to Murder Hobos. There is no escaping the creation of a Calling Card after a second or third murder. The next 10 Potential a character gains after being branded An Assassin goes towards unlocking this effect.

Unlocking An Assassin

Potential Cost: 10
Requirements
Minimum Level: 1

Choosing An Assassin at Level 1 is a tough choice. It means there is already a detective, headhunter, or rich person who is looking for you, likely to bring you to justice.

Anyway, Good Luck.

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
