When we think of ourselves as business owners we are taking on the responsibility to provide for both our consumers and our employed. A harsh reality of procurement, establishing margins, and defining profit sinks in. Keeping it razor thin keeps the ever watching eyes of the Unions at bay.
Growing up in a business is often the way of those who acquire Just Business. The Business covers the scope of life. As the owner you started it all or literally grew up in the back offices or warehouse and have had to work in every layer of your business from the ground up. Stocking shelves, cleaning, quickly serving customers, negotiating with suppliers, and more more more.
The Boons of The Business
Item Type: Domicile
You may upgrade your Business with any Domicile Option you may afford. Doing so instantly upgrades the business. While you have Just Business unlocked, you may perform Cash Out or Sell Off with any of your Routine Paths. The Business has no Upgrade Restrictions.
Cash Out
Routine Practice: 1 Routine Path
Withdrawal credits as pay from the business. Taxes and other fees are already figured. When you Cash Out you acquire a number of credits equal to Half of your Total Awareness Score.
Sell Off
Routine Practice: 1 Routine Path
Choose any number of items stored in anywhere in any of your Domiciles and sell them at the average market value. (~cX)
You gain access to the credits immediately, and all the items vanish. Recovering an item this way may be possible, at the Story Guide’s discretion.
When you perform Sell Off, your allies may also perform this Routine at no additional Routine Path cost if they are within 100 Tiles of you. They may only sell items stored in any of their Domiciles. They gain access to the credits earned immediately.
Note: If you or your allies have some way to send items from their inventories to their Domicile, any items which may be sent may also be sold.
Additional Effects
No matter what front you choose as a your Business, the following benefits are true.
Front: Your business stocks and sells a few item types.
You may choose one Item Type to sell at your Business per 25 Awareness you have.
Your Front always has common items from these types for sale, at a 25% discount from average market value (~cX).
You may not choose Luxuries as any of the Item Types.
At 949 Awareness, your business becomes a department store, selling every type of common item.
Backroom Hideout: Included in your Business, you have a small apartment on grounds. This Hideout may receive mail or other communications from affiliated Supporting Characters. This also functions as an Apartment Domicile Upgrade.
The Clerk: While The Business may be of a kind which includes Stockers, Wait Staff, Cooks, etc. The only Supporting Character guaranteed is The Clerk. It is through your truly trustworthy Clerk you learn about how well the business is doing. They also tend to know your customer base and may offer special bounties and quests to you and your allies when visiting. The Clerk stands as a gatekeeper from those looking for you.
Notes
Extended Time Skips have no impact on income. The character only gets paid when using Cash Out or Sell Off.
It is assumed all excess goes to general living expenses and business expenses.
Non-Retail businesses.
You may choose to have a non-retail business, such as a restaurant, theme park, underground club or bar, storage depot warehouse, or otherwise. You may even make it an underground or exclusive club of sorts.
The item selection will still include any item type selection you choose, though how the items are sold in roleplay might be an interesting hush hush process or prizes from the pay to play mini games.
Joint Venture: If multiple characters have Just Business unlocked, then Cash Out increases by +10% of Awareness credits acquired for every character who can use Cash Out. This may stack to a maximum of +50%.
